Post-Order Patent Owner Petitions

Patent owner petitions to the Office of Petitions (document code PET.OP or RXPET.) filed after ex parte reexamination was ordered — e.g., requests to reconsider the grant or terminate the proceeding — with any requester opposition and the Office's decision. Petitions are collected for reexamination proceedings ordered on or after December 22, 2025.

After a reexamination is ordered (a substantial new question of patentability was found), patent owners recently have been petitioning the Patent Office to reconsider that grant or terminate the proceeding pursuant to 35 U.S.C. § 325(d). This page tracks such motions and the Office's decisions. Where a proceeding has multiple PET.OP documents (the petition plus exhibits), the shortest is treated as the petition itself. The requester opposition (RXOPPPET or RXPET.) and the Office's petition decision are shown where on file.
